6 week summer session Wednesdays, June 26-August 1, 2013

Become worldly tech adventurers and learn to navigate the World-Wide Web. Discover the treasures of the internet and the digital world.
No passport necessary. Adventurous spirit a must!


A. Registration begins June 8, 2013, 9-5 at the Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library. There are two 30 minute sessions that participants may register for: 6:30-7pm OR 7:30-8pm.
B. Program begins week of June 24, 2013.
C. Week 1: Google Earth: Participants will learn to navigate the application and finish with a scavenger hunt.
D. Week 2: Story-bird: Participants will create their own stories or poems based on various pieces of artwork.
E. Week 3: ‘Zeen’: A presentation program where a “zeen” of a place is created. Locations, for example, can be the participant’s last vacation place or a place they’ve always wanted to go.
F. Week 4: Inanimate Alice: Participants will read and navigate through a digital story.
G. Week 5:Goodreads: A website for participants to research book recommendations and communicate with each other about books they’ve read via reviews.
H. Week 6: Blogger.com/and/or Kids Review FB page: Create a youth library blog, a FaceBook page for youth reviews of materials, and/or My Media Mall/Freegal training for downloading materials.
